Date of Travel: March 3, 2012

Spending too much time in the City had finally made me think about escaping the city's heat and busy life. It was a perfect timing for my friend, Francis, since he was hosting an Iranian national (Hamid) but got no time of touring him around Cebu. So I volunteered to be Hamid's tour guide provided that he would go along with my plan for the weekend. So he said, yes and he is cool with everything. I said: "Alright then let's go to Moalboal and Badian over the weekend." He just gave me a smirk without hesitation.

Moalboal, Cebu is famous for its white sand beaches, a coastline rich with scenic marine picturesque, beautiful dive spots and marine sanctuaries. Almost all foreign backpackers would have definitely read about the place and is the top destination among foreign nationals here in Cebu. The municipality of Moalboal is a 4th class municipality lies in Southwest coast of the Province of Cebu. Moalboal has been spotted, identified and is a famed tourist destination for both local and foreign nationals. It has a laudable coastlines, beautiful and real white sandy beaches. A magnificent underwater paradise - one of the best scuba dive capitals of the world. Moalboal is approximately eighty-nine (89) road kilometers from Cebu City. It is bounded on the North by the Municipality of Alcantara, the Municipality of Badian in the South, west by TaƱon Strait and the Municipality of Argao in the East. It can be reached by bus or car in 2 ½ hours more or less from Cebu City. Anyone can enjoy the warm, pristine waters, and the fine white sand. It is popularly known as the "Diving Paradise of Cebu" due to its white sandy beaches, beautiful corals and different underwater creatures especially around Pescador Island.

The most fascinating of all is the underwater world, interlaced with awesome and beautiful corals "KAGASANGAN" and a variety of sea flora and fauna which is considered as the jewel and gem of Moalboal. Moalboal is composed of 15 barangays. It has a total land area of 7,290.96 has. and a population of 27,398 based on 2005 survey. Moalboal celebrates its town fiesta every May 16 in honor of Patron Saint, San Juan Nepomuceno and on every 15th of May, you can see and watch the "KAGASANGAN FESTIVAL". It is a presentation of street dancing and ritual showdown participated in by the different barangays.

So what do you do at night in Moalboal? Well, I honestly got no clue until I finally arrive and had a good time. Night bars along the beaches are rampant especially in Panagsama area. You could see them anywhere.
